Pair of French Louis XV fauteuils, in finely carved walnut, 18th century
A pair of French Louis XV fauteuils in finely carved walnut, 18th century. The back is wavy and scalloped, in a cabriolet style, with a neck decorated with floral and plant motifs. The back's lines are framed by a thin frame with scroll-shaped finishes. Wavy arms, with supports ending in scrolls, are supported by elegantly modeled curved uprights.
The wide, slightly trapezoidal seat, with a wavy, molded waist, is adorned with floral and plant carvings in the center and above the knees, and rests on curved legs ending in scrolls. The entire wooden surface displays delicate rocaille- inspired carvings, with fluid, light motifs characteristic of French production from the second half of the 18th century.
Upholstered in recent white fabric, respecting the ornamental language of the pieces and highlighting the contrast between the warm tone of the wood and the formal lightness of the structure.
