Pair of Platner benches, designed by Warren Platner, USA, produced by Knoll International, 1960s
Pair of Platner model stools, by Warren Platner, USA and produced by Knoll International, 1960s.
Pair of benches, 19th-20th century design, with a circular seat upholstered in dark green leather, resting on a sculptural chromed steel structure, composed of radially arranged vertical metal rods, forming an inverted drum-shaped shaft.
The model was created in 1966 by American architect and designer Warren Platner (1919–2006) for Knoll International, in a modular system that combined innovative industrial processes with manual finishing.
The piece combines the formal vocabulary of American modernism with a fluid and elegant aesthetic, where the metal structure takes on a sculptural role without compromising comfort.
A representative piece of 1960s American design, integrating technical rigor, visual sophistication, and functionality.
