Era / Note
Jacob Sjölin (1737–c. 1785) was a Swedish cabinetmaker active between 1767 and 1785/88 in the towns of Köping and Kungsör in the Mälardalen region. He specialized in producing furniture sold in alder veneer (alrot), a prized material in Sweden since the Baroque period for its warm color and decorative grain. His pieces were often stamped with the inscription "JAC: SJÖLIN KÖPING OCH KUNGSÖR" alongside the official mark of the Köping guild. His work is recognized for its quality of execution and is stylistically associated with the Gustavian taste, being regarded as one of the foremost cabinetmakers outside Stockholm in his time.
