Pair of Louis XVI candelabra in gilded bronze, France, 18th century

Pair of three-light Louis XVI candelabra, in gilded and patinated bronze, on a stone base, France (Paris), 18th century.
An important pair of finely chiseled bronze candelabras, gilded with matt and burnished gold, set on cylindrical stone bases, decorated with relief applications depicting classically inspired armorial trophies.

Each piece features a patinated bronze female figure, perfectly sculpted and graceful, holding vegetal branches from which arms of light emerge, decorated with flowers, fruits, and leaves, culminating in floral bobeches. The figures reveal the influence of mythology and the taste for classical ideals that characterized French taste under Louis XVI.
The combination of materials—bronze, gold, and stone—provides chromatic contrast and refinement to the pieces, reinforcing their sophisticated status. Probably originating from a Parisian workshop active in the last quarter of the 18th century, these chandeliers are examples of exceptional technical and artistic quality, attesting to the refinement of the aristocratic taste of the period.
