Egg Chair with ottoman , designed by Arne Jacobsen (1902–1971) for the Danish brand Fritz Hansen, dated 1966. The organic shell structure is covered in cognac-colored natural leather and features a four-arm swivel cast aluminum base. The ottoman follows the curved, ergonomic design of the chair, replicating the same materials and finishes.
Originally created in 1958 for the lobby of the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, the Egg Chair has become an icon of modern Scandinavian design, celebrated for its fusion of sculptural form, ergonomic functionality, and technical innovation. The curved shell was one of the first molded foam structures, allowing the designer to eliminate harsh angles and provide the user with immersive acoustic privacy.
